Edo period (1615-1868), bronze censer (koro) in the form of an elephant, with a reticulated bronze and champleve blanket that can be removed, presented together with a custom fitted carved wood stand.

DOA 5 1/4 x 6 1/4 x 3 in.

From the Estate of the late Businessman and Conservationist, Russell M. Leiman, Durham, North Carolina

Appears to be missing top element; rubbing and wear to surface with some loss to champleve on saddle and blankets; some spots of loss to the bronze on back of elephant.
