Premier grade serial number 81451 was recorded as REOBV in the book L.C. Smith Shotguns by Lt. Col. William S. Brophy, USAR Ret. indicating that the original configuration was that of regular frame, ejectors, Hunter One Single Trigger, beavertail, vent rib barrel, and shipped June 5, 1925. At some point after, this Premier was returned to Hunter Arms Co. Inc. for reconfiguration as a double trigger. All other attributes remain as originally corded. Only 17 regular frame Premier grade 12ga guns were ever made.

Overall very good estate condition, barrel bluing intact and healthy with exception being wear at forend contact points, barrels are bright and shiny, barrels ring with a clearly resonant and sustained tone, barrel to receiver fit is tight, color casing remains vibrant with deep hues, engraving throughout is crisp and undiminished, gold inlay is complete, buttstock shows evidence of prior repair at radiuses behind lock plates, the repair is strong and the appearance could be easily improved upon, stock set finishes are healthy with scattered field marks and wear areas, very fine LPI checkering is clean with one small area of depression along left wrist panel, evidence of prior wrist repair found beginning 3 in. from rear of trigger bow extending toward the toe, angular hole in trigger guard and underlying wood immediately to the rear of the serial number assumed to be related to strengthening the wrist and which could be corrected without great difficulty, length of the buttstock would indicate close to original length if not in fact original.
