Lot Details & Additional Photographs
To include: (4) images showing representative servicemen of the Union's Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery and Navy, Each image is stamped with the backmark of photographer George M. Bretz of Pottsville, PA. Additional works in this group include (3) scenes of Zeller finishing projects in his studio and (2) images of a work-in-progress titled
Victory. A final photograph taken by an unknown photographer on July 4th, 1938 (the 75th Anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg) depicts Zeller's monument to the 92nd Pennsylvania Infantry. The elderly gentleman in the photograph is Thomas D. Gillespie, Zeller's model for the monument when a young man.
Wear and marks to the edges on the mounts; the prints are generally in very good condition.
