First quarter 20th century, painted cast iron, the first a white "Trick Elephant" bank attributed to Hubley Manufacturing Co. (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 3 in.); the second a blue elephant of similar form (5 3/8 x 8 3/8 x 2 3/4 in.), to use each bank: place coin in the elephants trunk, pull their tail and the trunk will lift up and send the coin into the bank.
From a Prominent Collector, Aiken, South Carolina Both mechanisms working at time of evaluation; the Hubley elephant with old areas of paint flaking to whole; the blue elephant with later paint to whole, closure between iron halves with some gapping.
