Late 19th century, a kesi embroidered panel of the Goddess Magu, she is presented in an usually playful style with her woven flower basket swung above her head flower petals gracefully cascading through the air, presented under glass with a mat in black frame.

Frame dimensions 37 x 19 in., 29 3/4 x 19 in.

Magu is regarded as the Goddess of Longevity in China and was a popular subject in Qing dynasty painting during the 18th and 19th centuries. She is often depicted with symbols of longevity such as bats, the white-spotted deer, a gourd with the elixir of life, and peaches.
