Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Late 20th century, wrought and patinated iron, tapered tall posts with spiral twist tester rails, foliate caps (shown upside down in the white images here) and ball finials, the headboard with seven tapered spindles, conforming footboard with arched feet, with iron rails, appears unmarked.

Headboard 92.5 x 76.5 in.

After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore with a Bachelor of fine art degree, Stockman began his artistic career working as a blacksmith and made custom steel furniture. Now focusing on the formal elements of art, he creates increasingly complex works in metal, fusing the classical with contemporary. He has taught at several prominent craft schools, including the Penland School of Crafts, the John C. Campbell Folk School, the Appalachian Center for Crafts, the New England School of Metalwork, and the Touchstone Center for Crafts.

Overall good estate condition; some joints with looseness (appears they can be tightened or adjusted with an Allen wrench); later bolts for rails (one bolt is broken off in the threaded hole, but each connection takes two bolts and should be functional as is).
