A Large Japanese Bronze jardiniere

Meiji period (1868-1912), a large patinated bronze cast in relief with phoenixes and birds amidst maple leaves, deep etching of water below and clouds above, the underneath with mark, presented together with a flat circular slate base.

The body and rim with warping; some verdigris and oxidation spotting to bronze; bottom panel of vase is loose; scattered surface marks and nicks to slate stand.
