A Chinese Mahjong Set of Tiles and Tile Holders in Wood Cases

Early to mid-20th century, a Chinese Mahjong set in a wooden dovetailed case with decorative metal mounts, sliding front cover with two Chinese characters in green, shaped carrying handles to the top, five graduated drawers containing bone and bamboo playing pieces, consisting of (140) decorated tiles, (4) blank tiles, and numerous counters and dice. (7 x 9 1/2 x 7 in.) presented together with a box containing four mahjong tile holders (4 x 7 1/2 x 18 in.).
