From the Collection of the late James H. Lazenby, Pittsboro, North Carolina John Polhamus was a master engraver and die sinker at Tiffany & Co. who executed the firm’s
Oriental pattern, introduced in the 1860s. The pattern is inspired by Japanese and East Asian design and associated with the Aesthetic Movement. Although pieces are marked only TIFFANY & CO., Polhamus is credited through historical records for cutting the dies that made the pattern possible.
Rubbing to the decoration, light pitting to the tines.
