Midori, Toko Shinoda employs green, rarely used in her compositions, as a restrained yet expressive presence, evoking vitality and renewal while maintaining compositional balance. Set against her stark calligraphic gesture, the color softens the force of movement and introduces a quiet stillness. Printed in a small edition of just 15, this is a remarkable example of Shinoda's aesthetic.
Toko Shinoda is an iconic female artist in Japan and recognized throughout the world. She lived to 107 years old, still creating abstract expressionist style art works until her final days. She has been a powerhouse artist from the beginning, exhibiting at the MoMA in the 1950s. Her art works throughout the decades have been collected and exhibited in many major art museums across the world.
Very good condition; overall even toning to paper; one spot of discoloration to center; not examined outside of the frame.
