Includes two woodblock prints, the first by Tadashi Nakayama (Japanese, 1927-2014), Horse in the Thunder, signed in pencil to lower margin 1986, T. Nakayama, 11/95, framed in Japan by Kato under glass with gold rim ivory fabric mat in gilt wood frame (Frame dimensions 15 1/2 x 25 x 1 in., Sight size 8 1/4 x 17 1/2 in.)(Very good condition; overall even toning to paper; not examined outside of the frame), and the second by Masano Ido (Japanese 1945-2016), with red artist seal to lower right corner, signed in pencil to lower margin with title, 83, Masano Ido, 69/150, framed in Japan by Kato under glass with gold rim celadon green fabric mat in gilt wood frame (Frame dimensions 16 x 21 x 1 in., Sight size 11 x 15 1/2 in.)(Very good condition; overall even toning to paper; not examined outside of the frame).

Masano Ido (b. 1935) is celebrated for her delicate and lyrical approach to traditional Japanese motifs, blending classical techniques with a modern sensibility. Tadashi Nakayama (1927-2014), one of Japan’s foremost modern enamel and woodblock artists, is renowned for his vibrant and highly decorative imagery. Drawing upon Japanese folklore, mythology, and traditional decorative patterns, Nakayama’s works combine bold color, precise craftsmanship, and a dynamic sense of composition that has earned him international recognition.
