From the Personal Collection of Philip and Susan Harvey. Lawrence Howard was a native Ocracoker, although he spent most of his life in Pennsylvania. He left Ocracoke before 1930 and probably made most of his decoys on the island before he left Ocracoke permanently. Many collectors consider Lawrence Howard to be the finest decoy maker to come of Ocracoke Island.
Combination of original and working repaint, the red on the head and black on the breast is later gunning paint, age check in the body and bill.
