1987, carved and painted wood, the first entitled Fintrilla depicting a hybrid fish-woman creature swimming among waves (6 3/4 x 12 x 3 1/2 in.); the second entitled Beast of Snake Planet depicting a dinosaur-like beast towering over an active volcano surrounded by snakes (21 x 40 x 7 1/8 in.), both signed and dated to base, Fintrilla additionally signed and labeled to underside.

Frank Pickle was born in Berryton, Georgia, in 1933. The youngest of seven children, he began creating art as a child. His sculptures are often colorful fantasy animals made from wood, gourds, and electrical cable. Pickle is known for his carvings of fantasy animals out of wood, painted portraits of famous people, and scenes of the country.
