Kangxi period (1662-1722), porcelain hand-painted in underglaze blue, a convex barrel set with looping handle opposite and arched spout, hand painted in underglaze blue with antique and precious scholar objects framed by a border of molded beads, the cover surmounted with a small foo lion finial encircled by treasure motifs.

4 1/4 x 6 3/4 x 4 in.

From the collection of Alice Sophie Everts (von Groening) (1890-1990) and husband Dirk Everts (1890-1928), and by family descent
Acquired in the 1920s by Dirk Everts while in the service of the Dutch government in Hong Kong. The collection was subsequently brought to the Netherlands, where it remained in the Everts family and survived the years of Nazi occupation. Thence by family descent.
