Kangxi period (1662-1722), two similar pots of globular form with curving spouts and ear-shaped handles, porcelain hand-painted in underglaze blue with scenes of ladies flanking a flowering plant enclosed in arched panels, each with 玉 (Yù or Jade) mark to underside.

4 x 4 3/8 x 2 3/4 in.; 3 x 4 1/4 x 2 7/8 in.;

From the collection of Alice Sophie Everts (von Groening) (1890-1990) and husband Dirk Everts (1890-1928), and by family descent
Acquired in the 1920s by Dirk Everts while in the service of the Dutch government in Hong Kong. The collection was subsequently brought to the Netherlands, where it remained in the Everts family and survived the years of Nazi occupation. Thence by family descent.

The "Jade" mark was reserved for the finest porcelains, which were equated with the prized jade hardstone.

Shorter with nick to tip of spout; taller with glaze skips and scuffs to handle, nick to tip of spout.
