Ming dynasty, Wanli period (1562–1620), porcelain hand-painted in underglaze blue, each plate has a riverside landscape with pagodas to center well surrounded by a
ruyi head floriate border, the exterior sides painted loosely with birds perched on branches and butterflies, unmarked.

From the collection of Alice Sophie Everts (von Groening) (1890-1990) and husband Dirk Everts (1890-1928), and by family descent Acquired in the 1920s by Dirk Everts while in the service of the Dutch government in Hong Kong. The collection was subsequently brought to the Netherlands, where it remained in the Everts family and survived the years of Nazi occupation. Thence by family descent.
All with kiln grit to foot rims and wells, fritting to rims; one with break and repair with associated adhesive residue to rim; two with hairlines wrapping rims.
