To include a dark Albany slip glazed shoulder vase (3 1/2 x 4 x 4 in.) and creamer (5 x 4 x 5 in.), both stamped with "OLB" potter's glyph to the underside for Oscar Louis Bachelder (Wisconsin / NC, 1852-1935); the tallest a baluster vase with clear lead glaze (6 5/8 x 5 x 5 in.) and an unglazed hat form wall pocket (6 x 6 1/2 x 6 in.), both ink signed "Throckmorton of NC" to the underside.
Throckmorton operated in the Candler area Buncombe County, N.C. in the 1930s and 1940s. Thomas Throckmorton and his wife bought the Omar Khayyam Pottery in Luther (or Candler), N.C. after the death of Oscar Bachelder. They operated the pottery for several years before local anti-German sentiment forced them to leave North Carolina.
