The Estate of Joanna Carson, Los Angeles, California; Acquired from the above by present owner. Joanna Carson (born Johanna Ulrich) was a New York–raised model, philanthropist, and Broadway producer. In 1971 she met Johnny Carson and married him the following year, later using the visibility of that marriage to power a lifetime of charitable work. Over more than fifty years, she helped establish the Women’s Rape Treatment Center, supported children with disabilities through SHARE (Share Happily and Reap Endlessly), worked closely with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, and helped direct an estimated $200 million to causes she championed.
