The Collection of Karen & Robert Milnes, Asheville, North Carolina Shane Fero is an American artist primarily known for his imaginative lampworked and blown art glass sculptures, often featuring totemic spirits and bird imagery, though he also created color etchings. Drawing on influences from anthropology, mythology, philosophy, and psychology, Fero creates whimsical yet thought-provoking works that balance humor with deeper spiritual themes.
With a career spanning over four decades, Fero has exhibited widely at major institutions including the Corning Museum of Glass, Mint Museum of Art, and Hunter Museum of American Art. He has also taught and lectured at leading centers such as Pilchuck Glass School and Penland School of Crafts, where he maintains a studio in North Carolina. A former president of the Glass Art Society, Fero has received numerous honors, including the organization’s Lifetime Membership Award, and his work is held in public and private collections worldwide.
