Dorothy Mills was an 18th-century English female silversmith, notable as one of the few women to formally register a maker’s mark. Following the death of her husband, she continued his business, registering her own mark in 1752. Mills operated the workshop for a brief period of less than two years before a legal challenge from her late husband’s nephew forced its closure.
