Churches Island, North Carolina, circa 1940s, painted canvas over wire construction.
Length 22 in. x 12 x 9.5
Thomas Caroon made a stand of geese decoys in the 1940s which were patterned after Ned Burgess canvas geese. The geese are difficult to distinguish between the two but a dowel rod that runs through the neck of the Caroon geese identifies his work. Caroon geese are seldom seen. This is possibly the finest surviving example.
Original paint with light gunning wear, minor soiling to the surface.
