Henry Gilpin was a California-based photographer best known for his black-and-white landscapes, particularly views of the California coast and Highway 1. After attending an Ansel Adams' workshop in Yosemite in 1959, he devoted himself seriously to photography, drawing inspiration from Adams, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, and other American modernists. Over his career, Gilpin produced more than 7,000 negatives, developing a quiet, carefully composed body of work rooted in nature and place.

Excellent condition.
