Ben Salter was the oldest son and second child of John Wallace and Sidney Salter. He was also born on Portsmouth Island. He was a hunting guide and became known as the islands historian. This decoy was used as a floater and also a stake up for use in the marsh grass.
A combination or original and old gunning paint with light wear from use, tight age checks to the body.
