1899, pattern number D281, featuring hand engraved openwork decoration of a sky filled with ducks in flight among clouds, a raised relief motif of a spaniel in marsh grass, and waves to the lower register, the verso engraved "William E. Heathcote / Franklin, Pa", dated to the twist lock stopper.

From the Important Glass Collection of Wilson and Susan Craigie, Richmond, Virginia William E. Heathcote (American, 1863-1929), was the former vice president of the Galena Signal Oil Company. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska he moved to Franklin, Pennsylvania, where he married Josephine Sibley and worked in the oil industry. Later, he gained considerable wealth in Florida by developing land and citrus orchards.
Very good condition, light wear to the stopper.
