Park Rehyun was one of the pioneers of modern Korean art, celebrated for her innovative synthesis of traditional East Asian ink painting with modern abstraction, printmaking, and tapestry. Born in what is now North Korea, she studied at the Tokyo Women's School of Fine Arts before establishing herself as one of Korea's leading artists in the postwar period.
