Republic period (1912-1949), the hinged box formed as a butterfly with vividly enameled blue wings decorated with stylized eye-spots, each wing lifts up from the divider in the center, the sides adorned with scrolling floral vines and blossoms against a pale turquoise ground, the interior enameled in light blue, the underside enameled in white, with metal mounts throughout.
