Qing dynasty (1644-1912), late 19th century, the barrel shaped stool applied with studded borders, pierced coin apertures, decorated overall on a turquoise fruit-and-peony brocade ground with two large figural panels of court ladies enjoying scholarly pursuits in a garden, reticulated double coins to each side of the body, the top with four small scenic cartouches around a central reticulated coin motif surrounded by a colorful key border.

19 1/2 x 14 in. dia.

Good estate condition; staining and dirt to underside of foot.
