Edo period (1615-1868), square form box with rounded corners, black lacquer ground decorated in gold
hiramaki-e and
nashiji with scrolling vines, chrysanthemums, and stylized hollyhock leaves surrounding a circular
mitsu-aoi crest, the sides similarly ornamented with floral reserves, smooth black lacquer to the interior and underside.
2 1/8 x 3 x 3 in.
Good estate condition; some rubbing to corners to underside of box.
