A Japanese Sado Island Wooden Isho Dansu Chest

Late 19th century, two part form, dovetailed, pierced iron mounts decorate the drawers of each chest with auspicious motifs such as immortal figures and deer, each chest cabinet with two drawers, four total, one hinged cabinet door with two secret interior cabinet drawers, flush base, both chests flanked on the sides with "pole carrying" handles.
