Max Yavno was an American photographer best known for his expressive black-and-white images documenting everyday life in Los Angeles and New York during the 1940s and 1950s. Influenced by social documentary photography, he captured laborers, street vendors, and urban neighborhoods with a strong sense of composition and human dignity. His photographs are held in the collections of major institutions, including the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
