Bertoia was part of a circle of influential artists and designers that included Charles and Ray Eames, Walter Gropius, and Edmund Bacon. His sculptures and works on paper have been the subject of solo exhibitions at institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, among many other major museums.

Deterioration to foam; some softness to rubber shocks; worn surface of upholstery fabric.
