Serial number 660782 present on bottom of frame butt, cylinder and underside of barrel, numerals 20676 present on crane and frame behind the crane, text of SMITH & WESSON present along left side of 5 in. barrel, text of .38 S&W CTG present along right side of barrel, S&W insignia and MADE IN U.S.A. present on right side of frame, jeweled hammer and trigger, checkered walnut grip scales with medallion inlays.

Overall fair estate condition, evidence of refinishing found with diminished markings from over-polishing, some pitting present on cylinder flutes, bore is shiny with strong rifling, cylinder does not move completely freely, need for deep cleaning clearly evident, surface rust present on side plate and butt, grip scales are lightly worn.
