Mid-19th century, the first in cubic form featuring mixed wood 7-pointed star and fan inlays to the lid and sides, interior with single lidded compartment featuring shell central inlays (6 x 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.); the second and third in figured dark mahogany veneers, sarcophagus forms with two interior tea compartments and central mixing well, one with inlaid brass shield key escutcheon, retaining much of the lining to the tea compartments (7 x 12 x 6 1/2 in.), and the other with kite form key escutcheon (7 1/2 x 12 x 6 in.).
From the Collection of a Gentleman, Aiken, South Carolina A few small veneer cracks and small losses; shorter sarcophagus forms with some minor areas of veneer shrinkage, and sides now patched where handles once mounted; taller sarcophagus and cubic form no longer with lining.
