The artist grew up in a large family on a farm in rural Romania, and after attending the Art Academy in Bucharest, he returned to his hometown and opened a glass studio, which has brought back craft and employment to a community worn from previous communist rule. His works have risen in popularity, being given to the Vatican and USA UNICEF Headquarters by the country of Romania.
