Late 19th century, hinged box form with inlaid brass corners and central cartouche engraved "BANK STREET INSTITUTION / DUX / GRACE PATTON 1891," opening to divided pen and ink compartments with a black and gilt leather writing service and lift up storage, unmarked.

Lid does not sit flush; lacking key; some scratches and shrinkage cracks to interior; surface wear to leather.
