Essex, England, mid-19th century, featuring a large mahogany veneered banjo-shaped case with satinwood line inlay, mounted with dry/damp hygrometer, mercury thermometer, convex mirror with reeded slip, over a large 11 1/2-inch steel main dial, and lower spirit level mount engraved "SMITH / BILLERICAY," verso cistern retaining mercury tubing intact.
