19th century, rectangular form with a pair of ear form handles bracketing the waisted neck, all resting on four thick supports, with apocryphal Xuande mark on underside of censer.

Dr. & Mrs. Maurice Rosenfeld of Beverly Hills California, by descent

Dr. Maurice Rosenfeld (1900-1966) was a prominent Beverly Hills cardiologist and an early attending physician in medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he is remembered for his role in establishing the hospital’s cardiology unit. A graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1924, Rosenfeld maintained a distinguished medical practice whose patients included figures from Hollywood’s entertainment industry, among them comedian Lou Costello of Abbott and Costello.

Beyond his medical career, Dr. Rosenfeld was an avid and discerning collector of art and antiques, assembling a collection that reflected his longstanding interest in the fine and decorative arts.
