A Large Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Floor Vase

Qing dynasty (1644-1912), late 19th century, porcelain decorated in a famille verte color palette scenes from Romance of the Three Kingdoms within large shaped medallions to the body, foo lion faux handles flank the neck, raised chilong dragons around the neck, butterflies and flowers on a green ground with dots, scalloped gilt rim, with an apocryphal six character Kangxi mark to underside.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms was one of the most favored story themes for large Guangxu period hall vases. These domestic decorative artworks would decorate ancestral halls and large reception rooms displaying the loved tales of heroic warriors, loyalty and military drama.

Very good estate condition; some light rubbing with loss to gilt on rim.
