Josef Albers’
Interaction of Color is a landmark study demonstrating that color is perceived relationally, and that it changes according to the colors that surround it. Developed from decades of teaching at the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College, and Yale University, the project paired Albers’ influential color exercises with eighty screenprinted studies (included in this portfolio) designed to demonstrate principles such as simultaneous contrast, transparency, and color relativity.
Interaction of Color became one of the twentieth century’s most revolutionary texts on color theory, and it remains a fundamental tool for artists, graphic designers, and architects.
Very good condition, with screenprints overall in excellent condition; few with foxing or light toning; some very light wear to portfolio cover.
