Private Collection of a Lady, Raleigh, North Carolina Father and son potters, Ken and Galen Sedberry, create their forms at their studio in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Inspired by nature, animals are a frequent theme in their work, from cows and chickens to octopuses, and Ken's recent work includes thrown and altered animal sculptures. Both artists enjoy the unpredictable process of wood firing. As Ken explains, "The variables are infinite and one gives in to chance. There are two to three months work in every firing and there are no guarantees. It’s continual risk." Galen similarly notes, "I have never undertaken an endeavor as challenging, heartbreaking, and rewarding as making pottery. Every part of the process offers challenges to be solved, requiring complete attention and presence." (sebderrypottery.com).
