Ming Wang was a Chinese American Abstract Expressionist artist born in Tianjin, China. He fled the communist takeover, moving to Taiwan, and later to Washington D.C., where he first worked as an air traffic controller before founding a framing business. He began painting independently, blending Western abstract expressionism with traditional Chinese calligraphy forms. His work has been exhibited at The National Gallery of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
