Peter Max was a leading artist whose psychedelic imagery helped define the visual culture of the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Berlin and raised in Shanghai, Israel, and Paris before settling in New York, Max developed a distinctive style combining saturated color, cosmic imagery, and influences from Eastern philosophy and popular culture. His widely recognized paintings, prints, and posters became synonymous with the counterculture movement, while his later commissions included designs for the Olympics, World Cup, and other major international events.
