Carving Heritage: A Decoy Story
A craft that defines a county's history.
Past the pine trees and red soil, a cool coastal breeze refreshes your senses. You feel relaxed, calm. Welcome to Harkers Island, home to the wild horses of Shackleford Banks, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, and, of course, the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center.

Come along as Sporting Art Director, Robbie Smith, and local friends visit with two of the founding members of the Core Sound Decoy Guild, Wayne Davis and James Salter. Prepare yourself for stellar decoys, an exclusive studio visit, great conversation, and the famous Core Sound sunset.

We extend a sincere thank you to Wayne and James for welcoming us and allowing us to record our day, and to Tom Hendrickson for being a gracious host and guide (and friend).
