History by the Bottle
When someone says "old world wine," most of our minds turn immediately to France. But while storied French winemakers pick, ferment, and bottle in the old, time-honored ways year in and year out, history marches on.
With help from some of the stellar bottles in our Fine Wine Auction, we take a look at what was going on in France in the second half of the 20th century while the winemakers of Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne and elsewhere (happily for the rest of us) went on about their business as usual.
