Honoring the Legacy of Percy Carawan
Follow along with Sporting Art Director, Robbie Smith, as he travels east to Lake Mattamuskeet, NC. Listen to the recollections of Mark Carawan and Kroghie Andresen as they share their personal experiences with master decoy carver, Percy Carawan.
Learn about Percy's artistic process and hunting expertise while being inspired by Mark and Kroghie's passion for well-crafted North Carolina decoys. There may, or may not be, a sighting of a very good dog named Abby.

The largest natural lake in North Carolina, Lake Mattamuskeet averages only 2-3 feet in depth and measures 18 miles long and is 7 miles wide. It acts as a refuge to multiple species of waterfowl, American alligators, red wolves, black bears, and white-tailed deer, just to name a few. It is a haven for hunters and birdwatchers alike.
We would like to extend our thanks to Mark Carawan (no known relation to Percy) and Kroghie Andresen for sharing their stories and helping us preserve the history of North Carolinian Sporting Art.
