Rare 16th Century Geneva "Breeches" Bible

(London: Christopher Barker, 1589), consisting of the Old and New Testaments followed by the Apocrypha, the text ending with "Two right profitable and fruitful Concordances, or large and ample Tables Alphabeticall," octavo (8.25 x 6.25 in.), re-bound in the 19th century with tooled vellum-over-board covers and marbled endpapers, gilt title and date on the spine. This specimen lacks the original title page and introduction, opening directly with the text of Genesis. The New Testament and subsequent books, however, retain their title pages with publisher's information. Inscribed by various owners from the 17th century through the 1920s.
