Sioux Beaded and Fringed Hide Tobacco Bag
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Late 19th-early 20th century, some thread appears to be made of a grass fiber, both sides have panels with geometric decoration composed of white, light blue, dark blue, red and green beadwork; beneath the bag proper are hide strips wrapped in multi-colored quillwork and sewn to a register of unadorned fringe; initialed "A.O." in ink just inside the bag.
Two small areas of bead loss; hide elements remain supple; moderate quill loss to both sides. Overall very good condition.
