Reviewed by Frank Horton and Bradford Rauschenberg in 1972. Label at the time inscribed "Samuel Knox, his hand May 16th 1799". Knox, (1775-1823) was a merchant.

Born in England, William Little settled in the new town of Sneedsborough NC, on the navigable Pee Dee River, in 1800, and began producing high quality Federal furniture. Woods were floated on the river and finished products were widely distributed using the same means. Little's furniture is desirable not only because he was a competent cabinetmaker, but because his production was limited due to his increased interest in farming.
