Two Reconstructed Ancient Egyptian Necklaces and a Silver Box
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
The necklaces (both 23 in.) are strung with tubular blue faience beads and are differentiated by having the faience being interspersed with either amethyst or carnelian. The carnelian necklace also has two suspended faience amulets depicting Horus striding. Included is the engraved silver presentation box that has housed the necklaces for over 60 years.

The silver box, Egyptian and possibly a cigarette case, is engraved "Col. P. H. M. Coverse Cav./ Provost Marshall General / USAFIME / Cairo June 1942 / January 1944." Also included is one of Converse's calling cards addressed to "Bettie" on the occassion of her engagement in 1950. Here Converse gifts the necklaces and supplies an overview of their origin, dating them to circa 1800 B.C.

One Horus amulet is broken, else the necklaces are intact and ready to wear.
