Moorish Revival became a popular design movement in the wake of Orientalist Romanticism during the late 19th century. Louis Comfort Tiffany designed Moorish themed items for the interior of the Henry Osborne Havemeyer residence on 5th Avenue, constructed during the early 1880s, and this clock is possibly one of these special creations in collaboration with Tiffany & Co. prior to Louis's departure from the firm.

The upper left marble border has been broken and repaired. The back cover is missing. It is unknown if the works are fully complete and functional however they do appear to be original. Both rear feet are missing. There is only one recast and replaced. Please see Terms and Conditions of Sale: Clocks and Watches.
